So today we’re going back to basics to have a bit of an introductory look at SEO Content and why it’s so important.
By now you’d probably know that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. But a better way of explaining it would be to say that SEO refers to the approach and execution of techniques that will see your website achieve a better organic Google ranking.
A yet even better way of summing it up would be to say that SEO is the craft of ensuring your website appears in front of more people who are searching for your product or services.
SO WHY IS SEO CONTENT SO IMPORTANT?
This is the juicy bit, and you need to get your head around it. I’ll break it down into three main points.
1. Your competitors are doing it.
2. It works.
3. You’re going to be left behind if you’re not all over it.
With more than 2.8 Trillion search enquires being performed on Google alone every year (that’s more than 88,700 EVERY SECOND!) if you’re not ranking high enough to be seen by your target market, then they’re going to be contacting your competitors who are.
SO HOW DO WE MASTER IT?
The best thing (in my opinion) about SEO is that it revolves around rules and procedures. For some of us, this means that it’s easy to follow and get right. But when I say “easy”, please don’t let me mis-lead you. Yes it’s easy to tick along and get it right, but it’s also very time-consuming, and you’ve got to be prepared to play the long game.
You can’t just implement all the SEO concepts and expect your website to jump to page one of Google. It takes a while for your hard work to pay off. And once it does, it’s then an ongoing task. New, relevant, and quality content is needed regularly (minimum weekly) to keep your ranking high.
