Often when I tell people what I do for a living, their response is “What does a Copywriter do?” But before I get to that, let me just quickly address what a Copywriter DOESN’T do.
A Copywriter does not use law to protect the rights of creators of work or intellectual property. That’s Copyrighting. Copywriting and Copyrighting are two completely different things. They’re not even closely related.
SO WHAT DOES A COPYWRITER DO?
Well, the quick answer is…
I WRITE WORDS THAT MAKE PEOPLE DO SOMETHING.
So what I write may make people think a particular thought, or act a certain way, or feel a specific feeling. Bottom line is, what I write is in most cases designed to make people BUY. If you’re involved in business, I’m one of the excellent options available to you to increase sales of your product or service/s.
IS THAT IT?
Nope, but that’s the main bit.
So I write the content for websites, or brochures and the like, or even press releases. I also write articles that can be used for a variety of purposes including promotion, protest, informative purposes, etc.
SO WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT TASK A COPYWRITER DOES?
These days, there’s an ever increasing need for fresh website content. Mainly to improve and maintain Google rankings. So the most important task I have is writing blogs for small businesses. All businesses need a blog (weekly at a minimum) and I’m a small business blog writing specialist.
